Excellent writeup. I wonder how many hours played it takes to cap? What are their plans for balancing two factions? |

Not sure how long it takes to get to cap. I can say that I bought 100 hours in the chinese version, and by the time I hit 25, I had like 57 hours left? Plus I think they give you 8 free hours. I also have been soloing most of the way, and I play a ranger which has a hell of a hard time between levels 10-19. I think most of the other classes would be able to do it faster.
Also have to remember the NA is supposed to be version 1.5, which should have more quests and possibly exp adjustments. The EXP needed to level starts to seriously ramp up at 20. |

What about balancing factions? |

You can start group grinding after level 15, and you will level faster. However we'll have to see how 1.5 changes things.
Paragus's reviews are right on the money though. |

In terms of differences between them, most things are the same for both sides, but there are some minor differences in abilities classes get. If you go onto Aion Armory and look at the abilities they get, at certain levels there are some variances.
Xeno can tell you the gladiator as an example gets a ranged snare on Elyos, and the Asmo skill at the same level does more damage without the snare. You have to go onto that site and look at the ability lists for each class and compare some of them. |

Thanks for the writeup Paragus, the RvR part revived my interest in the game.
Aside from those little differences in certain skills, is there anything PvPwise to keep in mind when choosing between Elyos and Asmos? |

I don't think so. Cosmetics and favorability towards one races zones and quests I guess? |

I've found the Asmo zone laid out better. Especially since in the 2nd zone, they have well-placed hubs with flight paths which the 2nd zone of Elyos lacks (the layout is craptacular). It just feels like Asmo was planned out a little bit better so far. |

I mean balancing factional power, like having lopsided populations. |

They could send a horde of chinese farmers to the other side, thus dropping gold prices and attracting more players. We should pitch that idea to NC. |

I thought the Elyos level 20+ zone was layed out better then the Asmo one. The asmo one seems more linear and confined, and the Elyos one is more wide open and gives a lot more room to breath.
Here are the maps to the level 20+ zones

As far as population balance I don't know. I know the enemy NPC faction will interfere, but I don't know if there any mechanics in place to do so based on who is dominating or if it is purely random. |

Yeah asmo 20 zone is pvp hell, because you're following a road that snakes through the zone, so as you gank people they'll just post your location in chat, and it becomes very obvious what your destination is. I think boshi was talking about the zone for teens. |

We haven't reached the level 20 zone yet. We're all in the teen zone. |

There's the Balaur battleship that comes into the Abyss and fucks shit up if one realm is overpowering the other. It was put into the game for the sole purpose of balancing RvR. |
